Dr. Rupi Kaila B Sc, DC
Dr. Kaila grew up in Burnaby, BC and completed her doctorate in chiropractic at Western States Chiropractic, graduating with summa cum laude top honors, in 1998. She also obtained her Bachelors of Science after completing her undergraduate studies in Science at Simon Fraser University.
Dr. Kaila discovered chiropractic care after her father suffered acute low back pain and leg pain from a disc herniation. After watching him suffer from pain and being bed ridden for months, several doctors told him that his only option was surgery. Refusing to have surgery after several months he was carried into a chiropractors office by two of his friends and for the first time in months he was able to bear weight with the assistance of crutches. As he attended his chiropractic treatments Dr. Kaila was not only amazed at the results, but the entire profession as she watched her fathers problem resolve over the next couple of months.
Traditional chiropractic adjustments are combined with soft tissue therapy (including Active Release Technique) to improve the health of patients. To help prevent the recurrence of injuries and to maintain optimal health stretching and strengthening exercises are provided. Over the last 16 years of practice, Dr. Kaila has a diverse practice treating patients with sciatica, whiplash, sports injuries, pregnancy, scoliosis, disc herniation’s and much more.
Dr. Kaila received additional training in biomechanics of the feet and orthotic casting with The Orthotic Group. She currently uses TOG Gait Scan, an innovative diagnostic tool and digital casting device to analyze patient biomechanics and order custom orthotics and orthopedic shoes. Dr. Kaila is the one of the few physicians in the Lower Mainland treating patients with high energy Shockwave Therapy, a non-invasive surgical solution that accelerates the recovery from injured tissue. ESWT (Extracorpeal Shockwave Therapy) sends radial shock waves into bone or soft tissue, breaking up the scarring that has penetrated tendons and ligaments. Shock waves accelerate the healing process by stimulating the metabolism and enhancing the blood circulation. Damaged tissue gradually regenerates and eventually heels.
“ Without a properly functioning spine and nervous system, optimal health and life expression are impossible to achieve. We facilitate this through chiropractic treatment allowing the nervous system to function at its best to permit the body to heal itself and by encouraging healthy lifestyle choices through nutritional advice, exercise programs, and stress management techniques, helping patients balance mind, body and soul.”

“I believe that a collaborative approach of MDs, NDs, DCs and other health care practitioners is the best form of medicine. That way the patient can benefit from the strengths from each discipline of medicine. I support practitioners working together for the benefit of the patient and I refer my patients to any other practitioner that I feel will be helpful in their particular case.”
