ESWT (Extracorpeal Shockwave Therapy) sends radial shock waves into bone or soft tissue, breaking up the scarring that has penetrated tendons and ligaments. Shock waves accelerate the healing process by stimulating the metabolism and enhancing the blood circulation. Damaged tissue gradually regenerates and eventually heels.
Dr. Jimmy Sahota, DC
Dr. Jim Sahota was born and raised in Burnaby, BC. Growing up he was involved in many sports whether it be on the field or as a coach. This desire for athletics steered him to attend Simon Fraser University where he completed his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. It is here where he was amazed to learn about the human body and health, how it functioned particularly under stresses of an injury. The kinesiology program allowed Dr. Sahota to tailor his knowledge about body function with his sporting background to help him and others perform optimally. While at SFU he coached ice hockey for the Burnaby Minor Hockey Association.
Dr. Sahota graduated with his Doctorate of Chiropractic while concurrently completing his Bachelor of Science in Human Biology. Dr. Sahota has worked with people from all walks of life, anywhere from infants to the elderly, elite athletes to office workers and everything in between. Here he saw various conditions and was able to work with other professionals to take an integrative approach to health.
Why chiropractic? While playing ice hockey he suffered a low back injury, and was referred to a chiropractor. He was amazed at the treatment and advice the chiropractor had to offer. Within a month he was feeling better, he was particularly amazed with the body’s ability to heal itself. This is when he knew he was going to become a chiropractor.
Dr. Sahota has also had the great opportunity to complete his preceptorship with Dr. Don Grant and Dr. Stefan Sigalet in Burnaby, BC. While working with them he learned how to use different healing methods and techniques, which further accelerated patient healing.
